Biography

Dr. Esmaeili is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Applied AI at Purdue University. Prior to joining Purdue, he served as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science in the School of Computing at Wichita State University from 2024 to 2026, where he led the Synergistic Intelligence and Multiagent Systems (SIMS) Research Lab. His research focuses on distributed artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on multi-agent systems, machine learning, and collaborative approaches to designing intelligent, autonomous technologies for next-generation cyber-physical applications. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer and Information Technology at Purdue University, West Lafayette, building on an earlier graduate degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
