First National “Job Board” Opened for Privacy-Related Positions

Thu, July 18, 2002General

Privacy & American Business (P&AB) announces creation of the first national online privacy and privacy-related job employment website.

Hackensack, NJ//July 17, 2002 – In response to growing consumer and
employer concerns about privacy issues, the nonprofit Privacy & American
Business (P&AB) announced today that it will make available the first
national online privacy and privacy-related job employment website –
Privacy Job Opportunity Boards (P-JOBs) – at www.pjobs.org. Now,
corporations, federal and state governments, and other privacy-conscious
organizations in the U.S. and abroad may target their search for privacy
officers and advertise other privacy-related job openings to those
qualified candidates who know or wish to enter the privacy arena.

Until its full-scale launch on September 3, P-JOBs will be temporarily housed at P&AB’s website, http://www.pandab.org and then move to its own dedicated website.  P&AB is currently accepting privacy job postings and will also be advising their P&AB Members of these positions, as they are submitted, through a special email alert before being posted on P-JOBs.

“There is a huge and growing demand from employers for professionals with privacy related experience and training,” said Dr. Alan Westin, President and Publisher of Privacy & American Business.  “Smart organizations are looking for both experienced and entry level privacy and privacy-related staffers to ensure confidence in their consumer and employee activities. We see this need as a growing one and are pleased to provide a place to serve both employers and job seekers.”

The Privacy Job Opportunity Boards will be divided into three units. The first section,  P-JOBs, will advertise mid to high level positions relating to privacy including HIPAA administration, HR administration, database management, legal counsel, marketing, corporate communications, new product development, and information security.

The second area, P-JOBsPlus, may be used to reach high level privacy executives or Chief Privacy Officers who are responsible for overseeing privacy for an entire organization, across industries.

The third feature, P-Temps, will assist companies seeking temporary staff for special projects and as consultants.

With no registration required, P&AB invites job seekers to visit the site free. For a nominal fee, companies and other organizations may post their privacy employment opportunities on P-JOBs, while recruiters, headhunters, and other executive search firms may advertise their services, as well as specific positions. About Privacy & American Business

Privacy & American Business, (www.pandab.org & www.PrivacyExchange.org), is an activity of the non-profit Center for Social & Legal Research, a non-profit, non-partisan public policy think tank exploring U.S. and global issues of consumer and employee privacy and data protection since its launch in 1993.

Always on the cutting edge, P&AB was the first to chart and analyze for business the rise of privacy from a second-tier concern to a front-burner issue and to provide opportunities in programs and meetings to assist businesses in understanding the privacy environment as it is evolving. P&AB, a pioneer in recognizing the rise of the corporate privacy officer (CPO), was the first to open its CPO Program in 1999.

The Center and all its activities are led by Dr. Alan Westin, President and Publisher of P&AB; Robert Belair, Partner at Oldaker, Biden & Belair and P&AB’s Vice President; and Lorrie Sherwood, P&AB’s Executive Director.
