Mohammed Almeshekah (recent PhD Graduate), Christopher Gutierrez (Grad Student), Mikhail Atallah (Prof. of Computer Science), and Eugene Spafford (Executive Director of CERIAS) were awarded the Outstanding Paper Award at the 31st Annual Computer Security Applications Conference (ACSAC). The winning paper “ErsatzPasswords: Ending Password Cracking and Detecting Password Leakage” presents a practical scheme to improve the security of stored password hashes rendering their cracking detectable.
