Abstract
Although many security vulnerabilities were discovered in Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) v4.0, it still has been widely used in multiple existing devices in our daily life. The transferred data over such devices often involve user’s privacy-sensitive information. Especially, a smartwatch contains user’s health information that is constantly synchronized with its application atop BLE. In this study, we analyze security threats in smartwatches; unlike prior works, we experimentally demonstrate various attacks; we also focus on a popular smartwatch, Fitbit Alta HR that was missed by prior analysis.
