Cyber Warfare Capabilities of Brazil

Abstract
The last several years have been essential for the formation of a national strategy for cybersecurity in Brazil. There are many vulnerabilities and threats in the information society and the Brazilian government has undertaken efforts to strengthen the security of society and interests of the state. Cybersecurity has been characterized as an increasingly strategic role of government and essential to maintenance and preservation of the critical infrastructure in Brazil. Cybersecurity focuses on both prevention and repression of cyber attacks. The federal government has established standards and defined requirements for implementation of methods for federal agencies. Cyber defense is characterized by effective actions of the military aimed at defense or offensive attacks. The Ministry of Defense has established specific requirements for the Armed Forces to focus their efforts on cyber defense in Brazil.
