InfraGard Chapter Information

Website: http://www.infragard.net

Investigated by Preston Wiley

InfraGard is an information sharing and analysis effort serving the interests and combining the knowledge base of a wide range of members. At its most basic level, InfraGard is a partnership between the FBI and the private sector. InfraGard is an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States. InfraGard Chapters are geographically linked with FBI Field Office territories. Each InfraGard Chapter has an FBI Special Agent Coordinator assigned to it, and the FBI Coordinator works closely with Supervisory Special Agent Program Managers in the Cyber Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Local Chapters in Indiana are located in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne

Issues

  1. Each chapter is geographically linked with FBI field office territories. Most chapters seem to be directly located in the field office locations. Although Fort Wayne, IN has a chapter, but does not have a field office.

  2. Members must submit to a criminal records check.

  3. Membership is quite restrictive if we would want to make the organization as far reaching as possible. (To join infragard, you must be a US Citizen)

Recommendations

  1. I don't think we could become a chapter, but we might be able to become affiliated with one. Although, I think the membership requirements are too restrictive for the type of organization we would like to start. I would recommend not pursuing Infragard affiliation.
