Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security

April 23, 2003:

The Fourth Annual CERIAS Security Symposium and Information Security Week was a huge success. Nearly 300 persons attended this year's "Cyber Security and Safety in the 21st Century," with over a third coming from business, industry, and government-making this our largest and most diverse group ever.

This year, the Symposium opened with a series of Pre-Event Session presentations and demos to provide attendees with insight into research and programs underway on the Purdue campus and at CERIAS's Affiliate Universities. As usual, the Symposium kicked off with the much-anticipated annual poster session, where nearly 50 students and faculty presented their research and answered questions.

Symantec hosted the evening reception in celebration of their generous 2003 Symantec Fellowship gift to CERIAS. Wes Higaki, Director of University Research for the Symantec Corporation, announced the award of the two-year graduate fellowship to Abhi Bhargav, a Purdue CS graduate (2002), with a strong interest in mathematical solutions and formalization of concepts in network security.

In addition, please review this archive, where you will be able to access the 2003 schedule of events, review the presentations presented by faculty and keynote speakers, and view posters presented at the opening session.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
