U.S. Center for SafeSport Server Hacked, Sensitive Documents Potentially Exposed

Eugene H. Spafford, cybersecurity professor and director emeritus at Purdue University’s Center for Education and Research in Information and Security, explained that hackers can copy and/or exfiltrate data and leave little to no evidence.
Spafford said it would be surprising for law enforcement not to be contacted considering the subject matter of the files on the server and how many victims could be impacted: “This makes them victims again. Once again they put their trust in authority … and once again that trust appears to have been betrayed, maybe not willfully, but that (betrayal) makes it a particularly poignant and sad situation.”
