Greetings, Teachers!

Information Security is a serious topic that needs to be included in the curriculum of every classroom that uses a computer. It is important for teachers, administrators, and technology coordinators to be fluent on this topic in order to protect the integrity of school records, student information, and institution credibility. But, it is EQUALLY important that the students understand the basics of information security in order to protect themselves, their work, and school environment.

By introducing the topic of information security in your classroom, you will be helping your students to learn the skills that they will need to succeed in the 21st century. It is important to open a dialogue with the students and engage them in activities that present the principles of information security in a relevant and fun forum.

So, now that we all want to include information security as a topic in our classroom...How do we implement these ideas? The CERIAS K-12 Outreach Program understands that time is a critical and limited resource for teachers. Due to this, we are in the process of compiling a series of resources for teachers to use in their classrooms. The target audience for these materials is identified along with the specific topic. Also, keep in mind that any of these materials can easily be modified to fit both older and younger audiences.

The topics of these lessons are listed below. For your convenience, the materials are available in standard formats (pdf, zip, html, etc). The pdf files can be opened with a free Acrobat reader from Adobe, the Zip files with WinZip and the html with any browser.
