A filter simply refers to software applications that empower adults to control the online activities of children. Most filters screen online content for certain key words, phrases, or names and then block or restrict access to that content. Many filters have a password based security system to prevent them from being disabled. In addition, some versions offer online monitoring and logging capabilities.
