RAID '99 will be held on the Purdue University campus located in West Lafayette, Indiana.

By Air

Although you can fly into Purdue University Airport, better connections are usually available by flying into Indianapolis International Airport. The following codes will be useful for making airline reservations.

The Lafayette Limo shuttle bus departs Indianapolis International Airport daily every two hours between 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Fares are $19-One way and $33-Round trip. (Stops are at the Radisson Hotel - near Homewood Suites, Purdue Memorial Union Hotel, and University Inn) The trip takes between 1 hour and 10 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes depending upon where your stop is on the route.

Purdue University Airport

(Code: LAF; 1.5 miles from Campus) is served by two airlines:

United Express
Serves Purdue from Chicago O'Hare (Code: ORD).
Northwest Airlink
Serves Purdue from Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Moline.

There are three good choices of transportation from the Purdue Airport to your lodging in the area, or to the rest of campus.

Driving

Purdue can usually be reached conveniently by car from midwestern cities, with most routes being through either Chicago or Indianapolis. However if you choose to use this method of travel be advised some routes are under heavy construction. Check the current ROAD CONSTRUCTION ZONES to avoid long delays.

Parking on campus during business hours is by permit only. Conference Parking will be provided in the Grant Street Parking Garage, number 1 on this campus parking map. The permits will be supplied at the registration area. To enter the Grant Street Garage simply take a ticket from the automatic vendor. Upon exiting the garage discard this ticket and use your parking permit.

Directions from Indianapolis

West Lafayette is approximately 65 miles northwest of Indianapolis. Take I65 North to Lafayette and exit on State Road 26 (exit 172). Turn left and follow State Road 26 through Lafayette and across the Wabash River into West Lafayette (approximately five miles). Proceed on State Road 26 (State Street). Turn right onto University Street (a one-way street) and go three blocks almost to the 3rd Avenue traffic light. The Computer Sciences Building will be to your right and the parking garage will be on your left side. To enter the garage, you should be in the left lane of University Street.

Directions From Chicago

West Lafayette is approximately 135 miles southeast of Chicago. Take I65 South to State Road 43 (exit 178). Turn right onto State Road 43 South and follow it into West Lafayette (about 7 miles). Turn right onto State Road 26 (State Street) in West Lafayette. Proceed on State Road 26. Turn right onto University Street (a one-way street) and go three blocks almost to the 3rd Avenue traffic light. The Computer Sciences Building will be to your right and the University Street parking garage will be on your left side. To enter the garage, you should be in the left lane of University Street.

Train

Train service to Lafayette is available from Indianapolis, Chicago, and several other cities. The most likely connection is via Chicago, and is described below. For directions from other departure points, consult the Amtrak WWW site.

To get to the Amtrak Station or Greyhound Bus Terminal in Chicago from O'Hare Airport, take the Continental Express Shuttle (773-454-7800) to Union Station, 225 Canal Street, Chicago. For assistance, Continental's uniformed ticket agents are located in the baggage claims areas of terminals 1, 2, and 3 as well as outside U.S. Customs in Terminal 5. The price of the shuttle is $16.

From Union Station,take the Amtrak train bound for Lafayette, IN. The tickets range in price from $17 to $31 depending on seat availability. It would be advantageous to book a seat in advance. The toll-free number is (800) 872-7245.
